ABOUT THE PROJECT
Ahead of the Home Run Derby 2021, Major League Baseball launched MLB AR, a new augmented reality app for fans to engage with the event live. The app showed real-time data visuals of home runs hit at Coors Field, as well as 3D ball trails of home runs displayed alongside Statcast metrics. Including the ball’s exit velocity, launch angle, maximum height, projected hang time, and distance.
ABOUT THE ROLE
For the MLB 2021 AR experience, I supported the visual design aspect of the app and how some data would be shown in the AR mode. The main tasks revolved around taking the brand assets of the MLB and the already existing wireframes and converting it into UI elements that could be reused across the app. I also helped define how the AR onboarding would work.
